Ingredients
1 cup flour 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup buttermilk 1 egg 2 tablespoon oil 1/2 cup chocolate chips, more or less depending on preference
Instructions
Preheat waffle iron according to instructions.
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, basking soda, and salt.
Add buttermilk, egg and oil and mix until combined.
Spoon into waffle iron and cook for 2-3 minutes. Enjoy plain, with maple syrup or topped with whipped cream and strawberries.
Notes
I recommend doubling, especially for a hungry family of three or four.
Feel free to replace 1/4 cup of the flour with whole wheat flour. I actually prefer this as it makes the waffles toothsome and slightly nutty.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for snacking later in the day.
Batter also makes delicious pancakes.
